In August 2021, following the Taliban takeover of Kabul, our founders helped orchestrate a complex rescue mission to evacuate 147 Afghan female students to the United States. Leveraging relationships across the Young Presidents’ Organization, U.S. government contacts, international partners, and the Arizona community, they coordinated transportation, funding, logistics, and diplomatic support during a high-risk, multi-day effort around Hamid Karzai International Airport. After two failed attempts and significant danger from the suicide bombing that killed 13 US soldiers, the students were successfully evacuated and ultimately brought to the United States, where partnerships with organizations such as Arizona State University and other universities provided scholarships, housing, healthcare, and long-term support—illustrating how private-sector leadership and international collaboration can unite people and institutions across borders to achieve life-saving outcomes.
